Duhigg’s work featured in ‘Reunion Sculpture Exhibition’ in Texas

Thad Duhigg, professor of art and design, has participated in more than 50 exhibitions to date and with his recent invitation to participate in a landmark showcase—Reunion Sculpture Exhibition: 30 Years Revisited—the list is constantly growing.
Duhigg, along with about 50 other participants, was invited by the Center of Contemporary Arts to feature his work in the exhibition in Abilene, Texas.
The exhibit is part of the larger celebration of the 30th anniversary of Abilene’s outdoor sculpture exhibition. The organizers invited past participants whose work had been featured in previous outdoor sculpture shows to exhibit a smaller, indoor work during September and October.
“It’s always a great thing to participate in an exhibition,” Duhigg said. “It’s a great program they have down there in Abilene.”
Duhigg’s work is designed with the hope of prompting people to think about social and cultural issues.
“I supposed [my] work has a bit of a political bend to it. It’s kind of hard to describe but I do social and cultural commentary,” explained Duhigg.

Duhigg, who is constantly gaining artistic exposure, is also currently exhibiting his sculpture work at the Edwardsville Arts Center. For Duhigg, exposure via formal exhibitions is important.
“You’re getting the work out there and it’s being viewed by a broader audience,” said Duhigg. “That’s why you make it and that’s why artists do what they do. It’s always exciting to have work shown and get people’s reaction to it.”
