[Video] Those that attended the keynote speaker on Tuesday, March 27 were given a ride through an incredible life. Story Musgrave gave a crowd of more than 100 a trip through his life. The theme of the 2012 College of Arts and Sciences Spring Colloquium was ‘Space.’

Story Musgrave, the astronaut, speaks to Story Musgrave, his daughter, before telling a story about the two Story's.

Musgrave, a NASA astronaut for 30 years gave a powerpoint presentation, complete with the story of how he came up from a farm, without a complete high school education, to holding seven graduate degrees in math, computers, chemistry, medicine, physiology, literature and psychology.

He also told audience members about being an astronaut on six spaceflights. Musgrave explained how he piloted an astronomy mission, performed the first shuttle spacewalk, conducted two Department of Defense classified missions, repaired the Hubble Space Telescope.

Musgrave shared how his broad liberal arts and sciences education played an important role in his varied experiences as a pilot, astronaut, part-time trauma surgeon, landscape architect, professor of design, speaker, and more. He spoke about human potential, achieving excellence, and having fun along the way.

Story Musgrave stands in front of a painting that he created showing the interconnectedness of the world, from the human brain to space.
