Edwardsville Arts Center Show Features SIUE Faculty Past and Present
The Edwardsville Arts Center (EAC) gallery is currently hosting “DDD&G” a gallery show featuring work by current SIUE Art and Design Faculty: John Denhouter (Painting), Brigham Dimick (Drawing), Thad Duhigg (Sculpture), as well as retired SIUE sculpture professor Thom Gipe. The idea for the show originated with EAC gallery coordinator Dennis DeToye who then approached Dimmick to help in the organization of the show.
“Brigham was pretty instrumental in putting the show together,” Denhouter shared, “We’re always looking to show our work to prospective students.”
The EAC gallery is located in Edwardsville High School which the faculty hope will help gets local students thinking about careers in art and continuing their art education after high-school. The staff of the EAC also hope that by partnering with SIUE for shows like this one they can bring in a wider audience and increase awareness of their efforts to promote the arts in the local community.
The show features a selection of current work from all the faculty participating. Denhauter’s work featured a selection of landscapes and still lifes. Duhigg’s displays included a series of bronze castings, including one large scale multi-casting piece. Dimick featured a variety of surreal dreamscape-like drawings. Gype showcased a combination of symbolic semi-autobiographical sculptures and drawings.
The exhibition will be on display at the EAC gallery from now until March 22nd.
