SIUE sets summer 2013 travel study programs
SIUE has set the destinations for its array of summer 2013 travel studies. Summer travel studies offer students an opportunity to immerse themselves in a foreign culture and gain a thorough understanding of history, places, people, and heritage that enriches traditional classroom learning.
The University’s travel studies take students to a variety of cities around the world, including Rome, Havana, Dublin, Berlin, Shanghai, and many more. Each travel study offers students a unique experience in their field of study, and the travel studies additionally offer students course credit.
Students are encouraged to attend SIUE’s Study Abroad Fair on October 12th to gain further information on the programs. All faculty leaders will be at the fair to discuss logistics as well as application procedures with students, as many faculty leaders require students to write essays or attend an interview before being selected to go.
Students interested in going on a summer travel study can view the University’s planned travel studies with each program’s faculty leader contact information, course fulfillment information, tentative dates for the trip, application deadlines, cost, and application requirements for the studies at this link: http://www.siue.edu/studyabroad/programs/travel_study_programs.shtml.
Students planning to go on summer travel studies must also complete a medical self-assessment and release form, obtain an International Student Identity Card (ISIC), and fill out the University’s official Travel Study Application Form. Students may read more detailed information about the forms and download the forms from the following link: http://www.siue.edu/studyabroad/travelstudy_application.shtml.
