SIUE Advertising Club wins ADDY
The SIUE Advertising club won a St. Louis ADDY for their 2012 entry “A Gift of Hope.”
The club’s entry was originally created for another competition where the entrants created thirty second commercials for A Gift of Hope (AGH) organ and tissue donor network. AGH is a non profit organ procurement organization that helps educate the public on organ donation and helps to coordinate donations in Illinois and northwest Indiana. While the club did not come in first for the AGH competition they felt strongly about the quality of the ad and decided to submit it to this years ADDYs.
The ADDYs are given out by the Ad Club of Saint Louis, a local affiliate of the American Advertising Federation (AAF). Although the club was up against some stiff competition the clubs faculty adviser Cory Byers feels that they had an edge.
“A lot of schools that have advertising programs don’t necessarily have production programs, we’ve got a really good mix of advertising and TVR people in our club,” Byers shared, “We know that if we get a good enough idea we can make it look professional.
The thirty second ad concept was the result of the advertising clubs brainstorming session; Ashley Seering then turned the initial concept into the production script. The spot was shot in the SIUE nursing school’s simulation lab, costuming was provided by the SIUE Department of Theater and Dance.
