Gib Singleton inducted into SIUE Alumni Hall of Fame
Art and Design alumnus Gib Singleton was inducted into the SIUE Alumni Hall of Fame in early October. His work has graced the hands of Pope John Paul II and is represented in collections around the world. This spring, his “From the Earth” exhibit was shown at the Morris University Center Gallery.
After graduation from SIUE in 1967, Singleton was accepted by the Art Institute of Chicago to study on a full scholarship. His work there earned him a Fulbright Scholarship to study at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy.
The Museum of Modern Art, the Cowboy Hall of Fame, the Vatican Museum, the state of Israel and actors such as Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner display pieces of his work.
