CAS Strategic Planning Spring 2018 Semester

In the Fall semester, Dean Budzban convened a committee to help CAS develop a new strategic plan.  He asked Jen Rehg, incoming Associate Dean, to chair the committee.  The committee has a good mix of disciplines, faculty, staff, and alumni.

The committee members are:

Cristina DeMeo, Chemistry
Richard Fry, Philosophy
Brandon Guthrie, CAS Advising
Andy Magee, alum
Jen Rehg, committee chair (CAS)
Elizabeth Stygar, Sociology and Criminal Justice
Andrew Theising, Political Science
Elise Waldman, alum
Rodrick Whetstone, Art and Design
James Wulfsong, Theater and Dance

The committee began its work in early November and laid out a plan to engage faculty, staff, students, and alumni.  Qualitrics Surveys went out in January and participants have until mid-February to complete the surveys. The surveys will help determine what people think CAS does well and what CAS needs to do better, and how to identify our goals. “We’re hoping for a good response rate,” said Dr. Rehg.  “There are a lot of good ideas and perspectives out there and we want to hear from everyone.” The committee will sort the feedback and compile it into draft goals and objectives during the remainder of the spring semester.

“A well-written strategic plan is a roadmap to a future we collectively envision”, said Dean Budzban.  “Imagining this future, and constructing a plan to get there, is a critical step in helping us realize our full potential as a College.”

The committee will share updates through TMIC.  It’s exciting to think about where CAS should be in the next five years!
