HAITI-ED: Haitians for Advancing and Improving the Impact of Educational Development
SIUE Political Science student Westenior Valmera founded HAITI-ED, a non-profit organization whose mission is to support the children of Haiti by providing school supplies to those in need. HAITI-ED’s vision is to develop strong partnerships with local and international organizations committed to creating a solid educational base for the children of Haiti.
Over this past summer, HAITI-ED distributed school kits to 24 children in the communal section of Grand-Boucan of Plaine-du-Nord. These children came from three different localities (Toussaint, Nan Bambou, and Karè) and were very pleased with this great initiative that HAITI-ED has begun. This activity was possible through a financial contribution from the four board members of HAITI-ED.
This year, HAITI-ED hoped to double the number of Haitian children helped. To reach this goal, they need your help.
By donating your gently used backpacks, you are helping HAITI-ED get valuable resources to children who otherwise may go without basic school supplies. You can help enable bright young minds to see a future where they can use their talents and skills.
“The outpouring of support has been overwhelming, as we have received over 130 backpacks, more than doubling our goal to distribute to school children in Haiti. Thanks to the generosity of the SIUE community, HAITI-ED is one step closer to helping the children of Haiti reach their educational goals,” Says Valmera.
