SIUE College of Arts & Sciences all set for 2nd annual Explore CAS Day 2017

SIUE College of Arts & Sciences are gearing up for the 2nd annual Explore CAS Day on campus. The event allows for families and potential students to interact with the various organizations that build the CAS. Additionally, Explore Day offered a more hands on approach through demonstrations in the science laboratories. SIUE offer 5 different explore days focusing each one on a different school; School of Pharmacy, Business, Engineering, Education, Health & Human Behavior, and the College of Arts and Sciences.

In an effort to offer students an efficient and effective exploration of programming, CAS and the SEHHB will co-host their Explore Day.

The collaborative offering is designed to better highlight the choices students have, and help them find information they seek more easily. For instance, those with an interest in becoming a math educator can be directed to the appropriate programming, since mathematics is housed in CAS and education in the SEHHB.

Whether you are already admitted to SIUE or are still considering your options, CAS explore day is a great opportunity to learn about SIUE. Guests will immerse themselves into SIUE campus by touring the university, guided tours through residence halls, speak with representatives from the Office of Admissions and Student Financial Aid, and interacting with faculty and staff from a specific academic area.

“Students will be able to meet faculty they could be working with in the labs and studios where these collaborations occur,” said Greg Budzban, PhD, dean of CAS. “It’s a valuable experience for students to see first-hand the innovative facilities and equipment used at SIUE.”

To start the day, current and prospective students will check in and will enjoy a continental breakfast in the Meridian Ball room, with a welcome speech from the Dean Budzban of CAS and Interim Dean Paul Rose of SEHHB.

Following the opening session, students can then “Meet our Majors”, by talking with students and faculty about majors that interest them. CAS features 23 programs with available majors, including Physics, Biological Sciences, Mass Communications, Sociology and English Language and Literature.

CAS expects more numbers than last year at this annual event and is excited for all the new students to embark upon campus and finding their place at CAS and SIUE in the coming future.

Registration is still open and current and prospective students can apply here:
