The event will commence at 7:00 p.m. The department encourages everyone to hear directly from those touched by Illinois’ death penalty system.

“Beyond Repair: True Stories of Illinois’ Flawed Death Penalty” is a live educational event revealing stories of redemption, forgiveness and betrayal from those personally affected by the death penalty.

Randy Steidl of Charleston, Ill served 17 years on death row. He was released in 2004 when evidence emerged that he was framed.

The event is sponsored by students of the POLS 472 class – Students of International Organizations, the Department of Political Science, in conjunction with the Illinois Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty.
